The case measures 41mm exactly. Clean machines it from 904L steel — the same grade Rolex uses for Oystersteel — which gives it the correct weight (approximately 155 grams on bracelet) and the slightly warmer tone that distinguishes 904L from standard 316L. The lugs have brushed tops with polished sides, meeting at a clean chamfer line that’s visible when you tilt the watch. This chamfer is one of the things factories struggled with for years, and Clean’s current execution is nearly flawless.

The Cerachrom bezel is ceramic with platinum-filled numerals and graduations. This isn’t paint — it’s actually platinum powder deposited into the engraved channels, matching the genuine process. 124060 No-Date — The Purist’s Choice

The Submariner without a date complication — ref. 124060 — is what Rolex purists consider the “true” Submariner. No Cyclops lens, no date window breaking the dial symmetry, no additional complexity in the movement. Just a clean dive watch face with indices, hands, and nothing else.

Clean’s version uses 904L steel with a rhodium-type plating that simulates the cool tone of 18k white gold. Under normal conditions, this is visually correct — white gold and polished 904L steel are actually quite close in appearance. The blue bezel insert is Deep Blue Cerachrom ceramic with the same platinum-filled markings as the black and green versions. Service Note: The VR3235 is the most serviceable clone movement in existence. Certain parts — mainspring, balance wheel, stem — are interchangeable with genuine Rolex 3235 components. Any watchmaker who services Rolex 3xxx calibers can work on a VR3235 without special training. Service interval: every 3-4 years for optimal longevity.

Known Tells & How to Check

No replica is perfect. Even Clean’s V6 Submariner has potential tells — though “potential” is the key word. These are areas where variation exists between genuine and replica, but many require specific knowledge and examination conditions to identify.

Clasp interior markings: Inside the Glidelock clasp, Rolex stamps their logo and model reference. Clean replicates these stamps, but the depth and sharpness vary between units. This is an area nobody will ever see unless you remove the watch and flip the clasp open specifically to look.

Clean vs VS Factory — Direct Comparison

VS Factory (VSF) is Clean’s only serious competitor for Submariner replicas. After their brief shutdown and return, VS resumed production with improved tooling and their own clone 3235 movement (VS3235). How do they compare today?
