Additional Information

The gold on this one is not trim. The case is 18K rose gold, and so are the crown and both chronograph pushers — the three parts your fingers actually touch. That is the expensive way to build a gold watch and the only way it reads as one, rather than as a steel watch wearing gold jewellery. Reference 232.63.46.51.01.001 is a 45.5mm Planet Ocean 600M chronograph, and it is the Planet Ocean that got dressed: black ceramic bezel, black dial, two chronograph subdials, black alligator leather, and warm metal holding all of it together.

18K Rose Gold, Including the Pushers

Rose gold runs across the case, the crown and the chronograph pushers on this build. Where the gold stops is as informative as where it goes: there is no gold bracelet, because there is no bracelet at all, so every gold surface on the watch is either structural or something you operate. None of it is a decorative insert laid over steel.

The pushers are the detail worth pausing on. They are worked parts — pressed, released and pressed again across the life of the watch — and they sit exactly where a cuff catches and a desk edge lands. Finishing them in the same metal as the case matters for how the watch ages rather than for how it photographs. A steel pusher in a gold case stays cold grey while the metal around it warms and softens with handling; matching them means the two most-handled points on a chronograph wear at the same rate and stay the same colour as each other.

If the gold is not the part you want, the same chronograph exists in steel. The steel 232.30 Planet Ocean 600M chronograph is the same 45.5mm case and the same two-register layout, fitted on a steel bracelet.

Black Ceramic Against Warm Metal

The bezel is black ceramic and the dial is black, so most of what you look at on this watch is one flat dark mass. That is the setting rose gold needs. Rose gold is a warm and highly reflective metal, and it competes with anything else on a watch that carries colour of its own; set against black it becomes the only hue present and reads as metal rather than as a tint.

Ceramic earns its place here beyond the colour. It does not collect the fine scratch haze that a steel or aluminium bezel picks up within a season of wear, and it does not shift shade with age, so the black holds while the gold does what gold does. On a watch whose entire argument is the contrast between two materials, having one of them keep its appearance is not a small thing.

The two chronograph subdials sit inside that black field and are read by outline rather than by contrast of colour, which is why the dial stays calm at 45.5mm instead of looking busy. What you get is a dark plane, two counters within it, and gold framing all of that.

Alligator, Not a Bracelet

This one comes on black alligator leather, and that single choice does more to set its character than anything else on the page. A gold case on a gold bracelet is a piece of jewellery with a watch in it. The same case on black leather is a watch: the metal is confined to the part that tells the time, and the strap disappears against a dark sleeve.

Leather also changes how the mass sits. A 45.5mm gold case is not light, and on a bracelet that weight is distributed around the whole wrist. On a strap it stays where the case is, so the watch sits closer and has less to shift when you move your arm.

One honest note, because the depth rating invites the question: the case is rated to 600 metres and the strap is leather. The rating belongs to the case, not to the strap. If this watch is going into water with any regularity, the leather is the part you change, and that is a strap swap rather than a limitation of the build. Bracelet-fitted and rubber-fitted Planet Oceans, along with the Aqua Terra and Diver 300M builds, sit in our Omega Seamaster superclone catalogue.

Genuine Side, Our Side

Movement on the genuine watch — Omega Cal. 9900 chronograph. Movement on ours — a clone 9900 built by the N1 factory, to the same two-subdial chronograph layout.

Power reserve on our build — 48 hours from a full wind. That is the figure for this rose gold super clone, and it is the only reserve figure on this page.

Depth rating, shared across both sides — 600 metres. Case diameter, shared across both sides — 45.5mm.

Case, crown and chronograph pushers on this build — 18K rose gold. Bezel — black ceramic. Dial — black, carrying two chronograph subdials. Strap — black alligator leather.
