A green horizontal teak-deck dial sitting inside a case of solid 18K yellow gold is the entire proposition of this watch, and the product title above sells you the gold while never once mentioning the dial. That is the wrong way round. Aqua Terra dials turn up in silver, in blue and in black without anyone having to hunt for them; green is the one that is hard to come by, and on 220.50.41.21.10.001 it is the first thing the eye lands on and the last thing it leaves. Read the title as the metal spec. Read this page as the watch.
Everything around that dial is current 41mm Aqua Terra: the date at six o’clock, gold hands, applied gold indices, and no rotating bezel of any kind. Nothing on the outside of this watch turns. The absence matters more than it sounds, because it leaves the dial completely undefended. There is no diver’s scale, no minute track climbing a bezel, no third colour competing for the glance. Green, gold, and the line of the case are your three elements, and with only three there is nowhere for a weak one to hide.
The teak-deck pattern is a set of fine horizontal grooves cut across the face, the motif Omega has carried through the Aqua Terra for years. It does something to green that a flat lacquer finish cannot. The dial stops reading as one block of colour and starts reading as a stack of narrow bands, each one catching light at a slightly different angle as the wrist turns. Green is a colour that goes muddy easily on a watch dial, especially in overcast light. The horizontal ribbing is the mechanism that stops it.
Against yellow gold, green also behaves differently from what most buyers expect. Steel is a cool, neutral frame that sits back and lets a coloured dial be the loud part of the watch. Yellow gold is warm, and warm metal beside green pulls the pairing toward the green-and-gilt language of older dress watches rather than the sport-dial effect the same colour produces on steel. The gold hands and applied gold indices push it further in that direction: they are not high-contrast markers sitting on green, they are the same tonal family as the case, and legibility comes from polish and facet rather than from colour separation. You read this dial by the way light flares off an index edge, not by anything resembling black on white. The indices are applied rather than printed, so each one stands off the surface and drops a small shadow onto the green beside it, a second kind of relief working across the grain of the teak lines.
If you want the comparison in your hands instead of in the abstract, the 220.10 version of the same green dial in steel is the control sample. Identical dial treatment, identical 41mm footprint, and a genuinely different watch to wear, because the metal you set a colour into is half of what that colour does.
The case and the bracelet are both solid 18K yellow gold. Not a gold bezel capped over a steel case, not a plated finish on a steel bracelet. The structural metal is gold, in the case and in every link, and that single distinction is the most consequential thing about this build. It is worth being precise about where the difference actually shows up, because it is not where people assume.
A case is one component. A bracelet is dozens, and the bracelet is where solid gold announces itself. Gold is a substantially denser metal than stainless steel, so a gold bracelet carries more mass in the same volume as its steel equivalent. It hangs rather than sits, taking the curve of the wrist rather than arching over it, and it swings back with a slower, heavier return. Pick the watch up off a table and the weight arrives before the design does.
Gold is also softer than steel, and that cuts in both directions. Polished 18K surfaces take fine hairlines more readily than hardened steel, particularly along the flat outer links and the case flanks, so this is a watch that visibly collects its own history. In exchange, gold does not corrode and cannot discolour, and what accumulates is wear spread evenly across the whole bracelet rather than a coating failing at one rub point and showing base metal underneath. That is the practical argument for a solid gold green dial 18K Aqua Terra superclone over any gold-tone treatment: it wears down instead of wearing through.
The movement is a clone of Omega’s 8900, built by VSF and designated VS8900. Its power reserve is 48 hours — the clone movement’s figure, not the genuine calibre’s, which is the only honest way to quote it. The rest of the Omega Seamaster range is there if you want to set this one against it.
